 Pastured Poultry

Rehoboth Ranch produces naturally healthy and delicious meats, dairy products and eggs.

What do we mean by “grassfed?”
Our GRASSFED ruminant animals (cattle and sheep) are born and raised on PASTURES untainted by synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides or any other toxic chemicals, fed NO GRAIN, and of course, given NO ANTIBIOTICS OR STEROIDS/HORMONES. Grain is not a part of the natural diet of ruminant animals. When grain is fed to cattle and sheep, either in the feedlot or the pasture, it has a detrimental effect on the nutritional quality of the meat and the overall health of the animal. Ruminant animals were designed to digest coarse, fibrous (grass and forages) plants progressively as they pass through the system of multiple stomachs and are progressively broken down by microscopic bacteria and utilized to naturally nourish the animal. Cattle in feedlots eating a high grain diet, not to mention the other nasty things like chicken manure that they are fed, live with a perpetual state of “upset tummy” due to their unnaturally acidic digestive system caused by the grain diet. Meat from grass-fed animals has two to four times more omega-3 fatty acids than meat from grain- fed animals. Omega-3s are called "good fats" because they play a vital role in every cell and system in your body. This and other health benefits of grassfed meats can be found at the following web site http://eatwild.com/healthbenefits.htm

Our omnivorous (not ruminant) animals (chickens, turkeys, pigs) also live on PASTURES untainted by synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides or any other toxic chemicals, but they are fed a custom mixed ration of NON-GMO GRAIN raised without synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides or any other toxic chemical in addition to the nutrition they receive from grazing the green grass.

We raise our animals on a seasonal basis in order to best work with the natural seasonal cycles. When pushed to meet an artificial production schedule, stress damages the natural health, vibrancy, and quality of the finished meat products. Advance ordering guarantees availability of grass fed lamb and free ranging pastured chicken, turkey and pork. Our 2010 Volume Discount Price List and Order Form is provided for the purpose of advance ordering and ordering in larger volumes at a discounted price. We also encourage advance ordering even for the weekly farmers’ markets to insure that you get exactly the meats you want.

For smaller quantities, including individual packages, please refer to the 2010 Retail Price List. Orders may be emailed (preferred) or phoned in at least 48 hours prior to the farmers’ market where you want to pick-up your pre-order. We are limited by freezer space at all of the farmers’ markets where we sell both year round and seasonally, so regardless of how accurate our sales forecasting is, we usually run out of the most popular items. It is always a good idea to order in advance, but if you simply forget or cannot get it done, we do carry approximately 40 cubic feet of product to each of the markets to sell over the counter on a first come, first served basis.

Rehoboth Ranch is different from your local grocery store. We don’t have everything all the time, but we have most things most of the time. By placing a Volume Discount Order for a larger quantity of order with us, you actually purchase an animal in part or in whole, and hire us to raise it. To accurately reflect this process, we charge a securing fee, like a down payment, to permit us to plan more accurately for the amount of lamb, chicken and pork that our customers want us to produce for them in a given yearly cycle. On pick-up day, you are charged a final price based upon the final package weight and are credited for your initial securing fee. Essentially you are paying a price per pound, but part of the fee is paid up front with your order. If for some reason we are not able to fill your order, your securing fee will be promptly refunded. We hope that through a personal working relationship you will feel a part of the ranch. Here is an example of the purchase of a whole pastured porker:

Securing Fee (paid when order is placed) $100.00
On pick-up day your bill would be:
Approx. 120 lbs. package weight @ $5.29 per lb. $634.80
Less Securing Fee ($100.00)
Amount due on Pick-up Day $534.80

Please look over the special Monthly Family Package for people who are short on frozen storage space, but still want to buy grass fed meats at the volume discounted prices. And we will continue to stay focused primarily on what we do best - raise the cleanest, most natural beef, lamb, pig, and chicken for you that is possible and offer you superior nutrition from healthy animals raised in a way that is good for the environment.
We encourage you to find friends and neighbors who would value nutritious, clean meat, and either get them to share an order quantity with you or place their own order.

Grassfed Beef

Our family has searched to find a beef breed that finishes well on grass and meets a high standard for flavor and tenderness without excess fat. All our steers are Red Angus, Angus cross breeds, or Red Devon cross breeds. Rehoboth Ranch raises our livestock on intensively managed, rotationally grazed pastures. A vigorous animal raised on a fresh salad bar of green grasses produces healthy, lean beef that is lower in fat and calories and higher in essential fatty acids such as Omega-3. You can savor our beef with complete assurance that it is free from hormone growth stimulants, synthetic chemicals, and antibiotics. Due to the exceptionally severe drought years 2005 and 2006, we have reduced our cow numbers dramatically. We will not be able to sell custom processed sides and whole beef again in 2010. We apologize for not being able to make that volume purchase available in beef this year. We are rebuilding our herd and hope to be able to produce enough ultra-high quality grass fed beef to meet the retail demand in 2010. Thank you for being patient with us.

Beef processed into ground beef and beef breakfast sausage will be available year round.  Securing Fee req'd for advance orders.

 Grassfed Lamb
Grassfed Lamb

The lamb that we sell, as opposed to mutton which comes from older animals, is tender and lean, with a mild, savory flavor. After 15 years of raising our own lamb, we decided to have a friend raise lambs all the way to slaughter weight for us on his family ranch in central Oklahoma. Now we are reversing course and raising our own lambs from birth again. Samuel (#4 son, leads the Coppell Farmers Market team, and wants to stay on the farm) expressed an interest in getting back into sheep. He now has his own flock of Kathadin hair sheep that he will be raising and selling through Rehoboth Ranch. They are raised just the way we always have – 100% GRASSFED on PASTURES untainted by synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides or any other toxic chemicals. The lambs have access to sea kelp, mineral salt, and diatomaceous earth free choice for minerals and parasite control. Lambs are managed using natural remedies and low stress handling. Lamb is available by the whole (approx. 40 lbs. pkg. wt.), by the half (approx. 20 lbs. pkg. wt.), or in individual retail packages. Try this favorite, historical dish, and you will find it a pleasant surprise. Favorite recipes are available!

Lamb will be available in early Summer and again in late Fall. (Exact dates TBD and coordinated with customers)

 Pastured Poultry
Pastured Poultry

Our chickens and turkeys are raised on fresh green PASTURES untainted by synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides or any other toxic chemicals. They breathe clean air and eat an all natural diet of green grass, bugs, and a custom mix feed ration that includes NON-GMO GRAIN raised without synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides or any other toxic chemicals, sea kelp, diatomaceous earth and organic supplements. Chickens raised in this manner are tender, flavorful, nutritious - the best possible. Our birds live in small colonies and are never crowded in confinement houses. Our family processes them at the ranch in a state registered “small producer inspection exempt” facility that has been constructed for that purpose. Processing is accomplished in an enclosed area and follows the highest standards of cleanliness. We typically package the chickens whole, but packaged chicken breasts, leg quarters, wings, livers, hearts, and feet are also available.

Chickens will be available from May-November. Securing fee guarantees availability.
